Launch Event
To those who gave their time and energy for Soles of Dignity,
Thank you. We could not have served the city of Baltimore without your support, time and resources, so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for investing your time and believing in what God was doing through us.
When we started: We felt nervous and uncertain whether or not we could pull this off. We ran into resistance from other organizations and at times, were discouraged about how we would pull this event off. We even have had individuals tell us that they did not think this was a good idea. We knew, however, that this was important to God, and so we knew we had to move forward.
When we were washing feet: We were uninhibitedly moved. We witnessed residents of Baltimore weep, cry, and walk away with a renewed sense of hope and dignity - exactly what we believed we would witness. We were free to focus on serving those individuals because you were there to support us. Our hope is that you were able to capture the beauty of these moments as much as we have.
When we were done: We knew we were just getting started... As much as we felt that we accomplished what we set out to do this weekend, we know that this is just the beginning of restoring racial tensions and restoring the hearts of those who live, work, and serve in the city.
Where we are at now: WIth hearts that are overflowing with gratitude, and an anticipation to do this bigger and better, we are extremely thankful, yet, not satisfied. We have more work to do.
So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We felt the support through your contributions and involvement. You took time to champion us, and we are confident moving forward.
We are just getting started, but we look ahead with anticipation and tremendous hope that, with one soul at a time, the dignity and beauty of Baltimore will be restored to be all the city was meant to become.
With utmost respect and gratitude,
Soles of Dignity
